Did you stay up last night?

I was awake, but lying in bed with my son (trying to get him to sleep). I took my son to a party at our church last night. It started at 7:30pm - we ate finger foods, and talked with friends. Then at 9pm we went over to the main building where there was a variety show. Very funny stuff - some people are super talented. 

The idea was for the show to continue on until around midnight and then they would count it down and then sing some songs. However, since I had my son with me, I cut out at 10:30 to come home, as did a lot of others with children. I was pretty tired myself, but I think I could have hung in there to ring in the new year.  I was laughing pretty hard at some of the acts, and there were a few good bands that got up there. 

Just before I left to go to the party, the power went out here at home. I called the electric company and reported the outage before I left, and the power returned at around 10pm. Thank God! It was much too cold for us to be without power all night (temps fell down into the lower 20’s, wind chills below 10).

So here we are…in 2009! Time passes so quickly…

What did you do to ring in the new year? Party, get together with friends, watch the ball drop from the comfort of your living room, or just go to bed early?
