Complaint with BBB

Published by cyndiboone at 12:11 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I had filed a complaint with the BBB about a month ago when I purchased a Aspire One Netbook off Staples website for my husband for Christmas and his birthday. It was a great price and it had the 6-cell battery that he needed. The whole order process was a mess from start to finish - my order didn’t process right, they never sent me a conformation e-mail and when we finally got the netbook it was the one with the 3- cell battery. I called Staples to complain and didn’t get any satisfaction from them, then I called the BBB to try to mediate for me. They got Staples to send me out a new battery, but it was the wrong kind and wouldn’t fit. I called Staples and the lady I spoke with basically told me that I shouldn’t have gotten one anyhow, and then said that I should send it back. I held onto the battery just in case we decided to sell it so we could get the right battery. I contacted the BBB again and this time they said that I should go to the Attorney Generals office in Boston. I contacted their office, but hadn’t heard that they had even received my complaint yet. This morning I got a call from one of the higher-ups of Staples. He wanted to let me know that they are going to credit my account with $160.00 and I should just send back the old battery that they sent.  He also told me that he called Acer and I could get the correct battery from their website for $130. When we checked their website this morning we found that battery for $100. 00 so that is probably the one we will get once we get the money back. We are holding on to the wrong battery until we get our money back, but I am very happy that it finally worked out. It pays to be persistant.
