Morning
My morning schedule has changed so much in the past few months. Because my husband works such late hours, and then comes home to do school work, he often doesn’t get enough sleep. We have two large dogs that need a regular schedule which for them includes getting up at 6am to eat - we trained them when my husband worked from home, and he used to love getting up at 4:30-5am to read and write and he would care for the dogs about 95% of the time. I am usually not a morning person but for the past year had trained myself to wake at 6am and feed the dogs, then I would work on the computer until my son woke, and then I would bring him down for breakfast or take him out to do something. About 3-4 months into my new schedule, my son started changing his schedule to waking earlier and earlier…pretty soon I didn’t have as much time to myself to work on the computer, then I started staying up later again. Well, now my schedule is all messed up. My son who is teething (2nd year molars) is waking multiple times per night to nurse, much like he did when he was under a year. I nurse him to sleep at around 10:30-11pm most nights, he will sleep pretty good until around 2am, when he wakes to nurse. He nurses during the night for about 15-30 minutes. He goes back to sleep then wakes again at 4am, 5am or 6am, and then he wakes up again for the morning around 7:30-8am. I am getting pretty tired from all this nightly nursing since I can’t sleep through it, I mostly doze. So here is how my mornings are going now: if I wake up at 5:40-6am and my son is not awake to nurse, I quietly get the dogs downstairs to feed them and get them outside for their potty break. Then I quietly sneak back upstairs and get my son, our clothes for the day and anything else I need from upstairs. I get my son comfortable back on the couch and I will lay there with him until he falls back to sleep (although I usually fall asleep too) and we sleep until around 7:30-8am. At that time we get up and start the day - breakfast and maybe going out to do something. On Wednesdays we have story time at the library and on Fridays we have Gymnastics at the Y. Sometimes we just go out to get grocieries or hang out at the library for the train table. I don’t have my morning time anymore as I have my son with me down here, and he is very active. I try to work on the computer and he is usually hanging from one of my arms as I try to type or use the mouse. He is very active, fun little boy. This morning I got everyone downstairs but I forgot to get clothes. Now, I have to wait until my husband wakes since my son is now awake and very loud. He doesn’t want to be left alone down here, but if I take him upstairs he talks way too loud waking my very tired husband. It is a tough schedule to work with but thankfully this should only be for a season and once my husband graduates college this summer, we could have more options towards jobs for him and we could also have a better schedule that way.
