Old Man Winter Arrives…now please go away!
Here in Ohio we watched as other areas of the country got slammed with bad weather before Christmas and even after Christmas. Our family in the NE was without power for close to two weeks with the ice storms they had and then the 12+” that fell after.
We had some cool weather, but we also had some nice 50* days and very mild weather for the area. We didn’t even have a white Christmas and instead had rain.
Well, now we are finally getting the snow, freezing rain and all that lovely stuff that comes with winter. We have about 6″ of snow right now, and another 2-6″ to fall in the next day or two. Temps right now are in the 30’s and are supposed to start to drop tonight at around 5pm - down into the teens, then with the windchill tonight we are supposed to go into the negative numbers. Brrrr. Our home is pretty cold right now, and we are starting to think about how we might keep our home just a bit warmer and more comfortable with the deep-freeze ready to set in. We are thinking about some hard foam insulation to put up on our drafty windows to keep the cold out.
We already have some blankets up on the windows and it only helps so much. We will keep the water running to keep the pipes from freezing and try to keep things semi-comfortable. Hopefully this cold spell won’t last really long.
Any extreme weather in your area?
