About Me
I am a 30 year old stay at home mom with two beautiful children. I’ve been married to my best friend for just over 10 years.
When my son was born in 2007 we discovered attachment parenting - it just felt right and natural to parent this way, so we studied some of the methods on-line and in books and sometimes just followed our gut and that is how we’ve been living for the past almost 3 years. Our son turns 3 in January and our daughter was born in October of this year (2009). Robbie is a loving big brother to his sister, Michaela. Robbie loves Thomas the Train, trucks and tractors, and he seems to have a great love of animals - he says that he would love to have a kitty, although we already have two large dogs that he loves to walk (with Daddy’s help of course) and feed.
Michaela is a somewhat difficult baby, but still very happy when she is feeling well. She has GER (acid reflux) and from the first weeks would throw up most of her feedings. The projectile vomiting was very new to me and we struggled for a bit, before deciding finally to have her on medication to manage the condition until she outgrows it. She is now on Zantac twice a day and it is helping as she is better able to keep her feedings down and she is gaining weight really well.
We live in a very rural community in Ohio. We rent a old farm house built in 1875, our landlord grew up in this house and he raises quarter horses and he used to also raise dairy cows. At this time he still has a few horses and two donkeys on the property, but he is elderly and not as able to work with them. As far as we know, his plans are to eventually sell this house and property to someone who will continue to use this as a horse farm. He really loves his horses.
As I said before, we have two large dogs. We adopted them both from shelters, but at different times and places. Rex is a lab/pointer mix and is about middle age - 8. He has a bum back leg from an injury while running in some fields this year. He can’t run anymore (doctors orders) and this makes him very unhappy. Abbey is a shepherd/shar pei mix that we got for companionship for Rex. She is about 5 years now and she has arthritis (we just discovered it this summer). So we have two gimpy dogs, lol.
I am originally from the New England area and I really miss the ocean and the culture. It was a huge shock moving to Ohio, but that is where the work took us. I would love to get back out there someday soon. I try to spend a few weeks every summer visiting my inlaws in Maine, but this past summer it was no possible since I was still pregnant. Now that we have two children, we will have to see what next summer brings
